I have some really great news to share with you. On Sunday, Sept. 24, we opened the front part of the Ogemaw County Historical Museum’s new exhibits in the old brick garage. The Trinity Episcopal Church members were the first group that toured our displays of lumbering and farming. Butch David, a member of our museum, is responsible for bringing our history of the past to our new addition with the help of Tim Flint, who painted and moved items from the basement. We are so proud of these artifacts.

Another item that was given to us was Kenny Coates’ Vietnam Collection. It was donated by his brother, Dick Coates of Mackinac Island. It still has to have the accession numbers put on...

Hard to believe that this is October already, where has the time gone!

Here at the shelter we have been very busy with new intakes and adoptions, and other changes and events. This upcoming weekend, Oct. 14, is the Bissell Empty the Shelter Event that we will be participating in. On this day from noon - 4 p.m. only, “SELECT” pets will be available for adoption without the regular adoption fee. New adopters must still pay to license their pet, but Bissell covers their adoption fees. We are excited to be part of this event and hope to have lots of community support and interest...

It’s not unusual for a special bond to form between a boy and his dog, but for Clark Pattullo, his new best friend could save his life.

Almost two years ago, the Ogemaw County Voice first introduced Clark, now 10, who suffers from low-functioning autism. For his parents, Brad and Jamie Pattullo, originally from West Branch, life has been a constant rollercoaster ride as they try to predict Clark’s behavior from one minute to the next.
